Main Ingredients- 4 slices of bread
- Spam or luncheon meat (choose according to your preference)
- A little butter or margarine
- 2 eggs
- Chili sauce (ketchup can be substituted)
- 1/4 onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
1. Slice the Spam (or luncheon meat): Thinly slice half a can of Spam into about 0.5cm thick pieces. The amount of Spam can be adjusted according to your personal preference.
Step 2
2. Slice the onion: Thinly slice 1/4 of an onion into strips. You can also chop it finely or slice it thicker depending on your preference.
Step 3
3. Sauté the Spam: Heat a pan over medium heat, add the sliced Spam, and cook until golden brown. Once the Spam is somewhat cooked, add the sliced onions and sauté them together. Sautéing the onions with the Spam helps cut through the richness and adds a pleasant sweetness and texture, making it even more delicious.
Step 4
4. Make the fried egg: Lightly oil another pan and fry the eggs to your desired doneness. Adjust for a runny yolk or a fully cooked yolk, according to your preference.
Step 5
5. Toast the bread: Spread a little butter or margarine on a pan and toast the 4 slices of bread until golden brown on both sides. Toasting them until crispy adds a satisfying crunch.
Step 6
6. Assemble the ingredients: On a slice of toasted bread, place the fried egg, followed by a generous amount of the sautéed Spam and onions.
Step 7
7. Add sauce and finish: Drizzle chili sauce over the sautéed Spam and onions. If you don’t have chili sauce, mixing ketchup with a little mayonnaise (about 1/5 ratio) makes an excellent substitute. Finally, top with another slice of bread.
Step 8
8. Slice and serve: Cut the finished toast in half for easy eating. Your hearty and delicious Spam toast is ready!
Step 9
Tip: The more onions you add, the more the Spam’s flavor will shine, making it tastier. Onions are the key to this recipe, so be sure to include them!
