Acorn Jelly with Simple Soy Sauce Dressing
Acorn Jelly Soy Sauce Dressing Recipe
I bought a block of acorn jelly from the market. While acorn jelly salad with vegetables is delicious, it’s also wonderful to simply top it with this flavorful soy sauce dressing and enjoy. This recipe provides a quick and tasty way to savor acorn jelly.
Ingredients- 1 block Acorn Jelly (approx. 300-400g)
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Minced Green Onion
- 1 Tbsp Red Pepper Flakes (Gochugaru)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s make a delicious soy sauce dressing to go with the acorn jelly. Finely mince the green onion, using both the white and green parts, to get about 2 tablespoons. The chopped scallions will add wonderful flavor to the dressing.
Step 2
In a medium-sized bowl, add all the minced green onion you prepared.
Step 3
Add 1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes (gochugaru) for a touch of spiciness. You can adjust this to your preference.
Step 4
Add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce, which forms the base of this flavorful dressing. It’s best to use regular soy sauce (jin-ganjang) for its balance of sweetness and umami, rather than light or dark soy sauce.
Step 5
Add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma and rich flavor. Adding it towards the end helps preserve its fragrant scent.
Step 6
Finally, add 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds generously. Rubbing them between your palms before adding them will enhance their aroma.
Step 7
Now, use a spoon or chopsticks to stir all the dressing ingredients together thoroughly until well combined. This completes your simple yet delicious acorn jelly soy sauce dressing! If you prefer it spicier, feel free to finely chop some fresh chili peppers (like ‘Ttaengcho’) and add them to the mix for an extra kick.
Step 8
Gently rinse the prepared acorn jelly under running water, then slice it into bite-sized pieces (about 1.5 cm thick). Arrange the sliced acorn jelly attractively on a plate, and generously spoon the freshly made soy sauce dressing over the top. Your delightful acorn jelly dish is now ready to be enjoyed! Savor the chewy texture of the jelly with the savory and slightly sweet dressing.
