  • 4 medium-large potatoes
  • 6 strips of bacon
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese (or to taste)
  • 40g butter
  • A pinch of fine salt
  • A sprinkle of dried parsley (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

First, let’s prepare the flavorful additions: the bacon and cheese. Cut the 6 strips of bacon into pieces about 1-1.5 cm wide. Slice each of the 4 cheddar cheese slices into approximately 6 smaller pieces, which will make them easy to tuck into the potato slits. (Feel free to adjust the amount of cheese to your preference!)

Select 4 potatoes that are a bit larger than medium size. Using a vegetable brush, scrub the potatoes thoroughly under running water to remove all dirt and impurities from the skins.

Now it’s time to create the signature accordion cuts. Carefully slice the potato from the top downwards, but be sure not to cut all the way through to the bottom. Leave about a 1 cm section uncut at the base. Aim for thin, even slices for the best visual appeal and even cooking.

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for 10 minutes to remove excess starch. This step helps make the potato edges crispier and prevents them from sticking together during cooking. After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry thoroughly with paper towels.

Melt the butter completely using a microwave or a small saucepan. Arrange the potatoes in your air fryer basket. Brush the melted butter generously all over the outside of the potatoes, ensuring it gets into the slits as well. Lightly sprinkle fine salt over the potatoes.

Carefully remove the potatoes from the air fryer after the first 30-minute bake. Now, artfully tuck the prepared pieces of bacon and cheese into the slits of each potato, alternating between them. Be cautious as the potatoes will be hot!
