Try this delightfully easy-to-eat tomato sausage pasta for a fun and different dining experience! ^^
Ingredients- 1 serving Pasta (approx. 80-100g)
- 3 Frankfurters
- 1/2 Onion
- A few slices of Garlic
- 5 Tbsp Spaghetti Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Parmesan Cheese
- 1 Tbsp Salt (for pasta water)
- A pinch of Parsley Flakes
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the onion. Wash it thoroughly, trim off the ends, and then slice it vertically into bite-sized pieces, following the grain of the onion.
Step 2
Next, prepare the sausages. Slice them into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm thick. This size makes them easy to enjoy with the pasta.
Step 3
Here comes the fun part! Before boiling the pasta, wrap the pasta strands around the sliced sausages. Wrap them tightly so they don’t unravel while cooking. This step adds a unique visual appeal and makes eating more interactive.
Step 4
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water – this is roughly 10 times the volume of water compared to the pasta. Salting the water seasons the pasta from within.
Step 5
Once the water is boiling vigorously, carefully add the pasta strands wrapped around the sausages. Refer to the pasta package for the recommended cooking time. Cook until ‘al dente’ or to your preferred tenderness. I cooked mine for about 5 minutes for a pleasant bite. Reserve about 1 ladleful of the pasta water before draining.
Step 6
While the pasta is cooking, heat about 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté until it turns a pale white color and becomes fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 7
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the sliced onions from step 1 to the pan. Sauté the onions until they become slightly translucent and tender. This brings out their natural sweetness.
Step 8
When the onions are softened, add the cooked pasta (with the sausages still wrapped) and about 5 tablespoons of tomato spaghetti sauce to the pan. Stir everything together and continue to cook, allowing the sauce to coat the pasta and sausages evenly.
Step 9
Add about 2 tablespoons of Parmesan cheese to the mixture. Stir well until the cheese melts into the sauce. If the sauce seems too thick, gradually add a little of the reserved pasta water to reach your desired consistency. Stir until everything is well combined and the sauce has a smooth texture.
Step 10
Serve the delicious Tomato Sausage Pasta on a plate. The fun of twirling the sausage with the pasta fork makes this dish extra special. Even with simple ingredients, it feels like a gourmet meal. Enjoy your uniquely delightful pasta! ^^
