Main Ingredients

  • 3 strips Pork Belly (approx. 300g)
  • 1 serving Warm Rice
  • 1/2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp Sesame Seeds
  • 1 stalk Scallion (approx. 20cm length)

Savory Soy Sauce Marinade

  • 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the scallion and thinly slice it. Pat dry the pork belly with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. Then, cook the pork belly in a pan without any oil until golden brown and crispy. Once cooked, cut the pork belly into bite-sized pieces.

After the pork belly is nicely crisped, add a little oil to the pan (or skip if the pork belly renders enough fat) and stir-fry the cut pork belly with 1/2 Tbsp of minced garlic over medium heat. Sauté until the garlic is fragrant and has infused the pork belly with flavor.

Once the pork belly and garlic are somewhat sautéed, reduce the heat to low or briefly remove the pan from the heat. Add 1 Tbsp of sugar and 1 Tbsp of soy sauce to the pan and stir-fry with the pork belly until evenly coated and glossy. Be careful not to burn it during this step.

After the soy sauce and sugar mixture has coated the pork belly well, it’s time to add the finishing touches. Turn the heat back up slightly, add 1/2 Tbsp of vinegar, 1 tsp of black pepper, and the pre-sliced scallions. Stir-fry everything quickly until the scallions are slightly wilted but still retain a bit of crunch.

Start by drizzling 1/2 Tbsp of sesame oil over the warm rice in your serving bowl. Then, generously top the rice with the delicious soy pork belly. Finally, sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish if desired. Your mouthwatering soy pork belly rice bowl is now ready to enjoy!
