Ingredients

  • 1 packet of instant ramen noodles (discard the seasoning packet)

Sauce Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbsp corn syrup (or rice syrup)
  • 1-2 Tbsp unsalted butter

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the ramen noodles. Instant ramen usually comes in a double layer; carefully cut it in half, then break the noodles into bite-sized pieces using your hands or a rolling pin. Avoid breaking them too finely; leaving some larger pieces will provide a more satisfying texture.

Step 1

Step 2

Place a frying pan over medium-low heat. Add 1-2 tablespoons of butter and let it melt slowly. Be mindful of the heat to prevent the butter from burning. Gently tilt the pan to ensure the butter coats the entire surface.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the butter is fully melted, add 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 tablespoon of corn syrup to the pan. Stir them together with the melted butter until the sugar dissolves and creates a slightly thickened syrup. Continue to cook over medium-low heat to prevent the syrup from burning.

Step 3

Step 4

When the sugar has completely dissolved and a syrup has formed, add the broken ramen noodles to the pan. Maintain medium-low heat and gently stir and flip the noodles with a spatula, ensuring they are evenly coated with the syrup. Cook until the noodles are lightly golden and toasted, being careful not to burn them.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the ramen noodles are coated with the syrup and toasted to a nice golden color, your delicious Ramyeonttang is ready! Turn off the heat and let it cool slightly to enjoy the crispy texture. It can be sticky if eaten too hot, so allowing it to cool down completely is recommended.
