Main Ingredients- 500g Mung Bean Sprouts
- 1 Tbsp Coarse Salt (for blanching)
- 2 tsp Salt (for seasoning, adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil (for nutty aroma)
- 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
- 1 tsp Minced Garlic (for flavor)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by rinsing the mung bean sprouts thoroughly under cold running water. Ensure all dirt and debris are removed for a clean and fresh result.
Step 2
Bring 1 liter of water to a rolling boil in a pot with 1 tablespoon of coarse salt over high heat. Once boiling, add the rinsed mung bean sprouts and blanch for exactly 2 minutes. Avoid overcooking to maintain their crisp texture; precise timing is key.
Step 3
Immediately drain the blanched sprouts in a colander. Allow them to cool naturally as the steam escapes. This step helps to keep the sprouts extra crunchy and prevents them from becoming watery.
Step 4
Transfer the well-drained mung bean sprouts to a mixing bowl. Add 2 teaspoons of salt for seasoning, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, the finely chopped green onion, the thinly sliced red chili pepper, 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds, and a pinch of black pepper if desired.
Step 5
Gently toss everything together to combine, creating a delicious seasoned mung bean salad. Mix softly to avoid crushing the sprouts. Enjoy immediately for the best crispness, or chill in the refrigerator for a refreshing side dish.
