  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • 100g Radish (about 1/5 of a small radish)
  • 1/3 stalk Scallion (white parts primarily)

Seasoning & Others

  • 0.5 Tbsp Minced Garlic (approx. 5g)
  • 50ml Water (approx. 1/4 cup)
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce (low sodium or for babies)
  • 1-2 Pinches Salt (baby-friendly or low sodium)
  • A sprinkle of Sesame Seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the radish, peel it, and then slice it into bite-sized pieces, about 0.5cm thick and in a semi-circular shape or cut into strips. Slicing them slightly thicker helps prevent them from breaking apart easily. Finely chop the scallions.

Step 1

Step 2

Preheat a pan over medium-low heat and add a little cooking oil. Sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Then, add the prepared radish and scallions and stir-fry until the scallions are slightly softened.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the radish and scallions have been stir-fried for a bit, reduce the heat to low. Pour in the 50ml of water, cover the pan with a lid, and let it simmer gently for about 5-7 minutes until the radish is completely tender. You can check for doneness by piercing a piece with a chopstick; it should go through easily. Steaming it this way makes the radish extra moist and soft.

Step 3

Step 4

When the radish is thoroughly cooked, remove the lid and add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce (low sodium or baby-friendly) and 1-2 pinches of salt to season. Remember, it’s crucial to keep the seasoning very mild for a baby’s dish. If you don’t have low-sodium soy sauce, you can use regular soy sauce but use an even smaller amount.

Step 4

Step 5

Stir briefly to allow the flavors to meld, then turn off the heat. Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of sesame seeds on top for a nutty aroma. Your wonderfully moist and tender stir-fried radish side dish, perfect for your baby, is now complete! Let it cool slightly before serving.
