  • Servings : 3 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Salad Ingredients

  • 1/4 pear, fresh
  • A generous handful of lettuce (or your favorite leafy greens)
  • A small amount of bell pepper (for a pop of color)

Yuzu Citrus Dressing

  • 1 Tbsp yuzu marmalade
  • 1 Tbsp plum syrup (or 1/2 Tbsp vinegar/lemon juice)
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces, wash them thoroughly, and then drain them well to remove excess water. Excess water can make the dressing watery. Peel the pear and slice it thinly. Deseed the bell pepper and slice it thinly as well. (Tip: You can substitute lettuce with other leafy greens like romaine or spring mix for a delightful variation.)

Step 1

Step 2

Now, let’s make the delicious dressing. In a bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of yuzu marmalade with 1 tablespoon of plum syrup (or 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice) for a tangy kick. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil for richness and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to balance the flavors. Whisk gently with a fork or whisk until all ingredients are well combined. (Tip: Adjust the amount of vinegar or lemon juice to your preference. If you don’t have yuzu marmalade, quince marmalade or lemon marmalade also make wonderful dressings.)

Step 2

Step 3

Arrange the drained lettuce on a serving plate. Drizzle about two-thirds of the prepared Yuzu Citrus Dressing over the greens. This lightly coats the leaves and prevents them from becoming soggy too quickly.

Step 3

Step 4

Neatly arrange the thinly sliced pear and bell pepper over the lettuce. Finally, drizzle the remaining dressing over the salad to add the finishing touch.

Step 4

Step 5

Feel free to customize this salad with ingredients you have on hand! Any leafy greens like spinach, kale, or arugula can be used instead of lettuce. Thinly sliced apples or seasonal fruits like persimmons work wonderfully in place of pear. Swap bell peppers for green peppers or shredded carrots for a different crunch and color. Get creative and make this salad your own!
