Ingredients- Whole root carrots (as needed)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Have you purchased a box of whole, unpeeled carrots? Let me share a fantastic method to keep them fresh for a long time. It’s satisfying to see them packed so full, isn’t it?
Step 2
Don’t worry about the size of the carrots; it doesn’t significantly affect the storage method.
Step 3
The first crucial step is to gently brush off as much soil as possible from the carrots. Think of it as gently shaking or brushing the dirt off, rather than scrubbing hard. Be careful not to damage the carrot skin.
Step 4
After removing the soil, let the carrots air dry slightly in a well-ventilated area. Removing excess moisture will help them last longer.
Step 5
Now, it’s time to individually wrap each carrot with care. Use 2-3 sheets of paper towel per carrot. If you have newspaper on hand, that’s also an excellent option. Newspaper helps absorb moisture and reduces direct contact with air.
Step 6
Ensure each carrot is fully covered by the paper towel (or newspaper), just like in the photo. Wrapping them snugly is key.
Step 7
Place these individually wrapped carrots into a zip-top bag. Try to remove as much air as possible from the bag before sealing it. Now, store them in the refrigerator. This method will help maintain the carrots’ crispness and sweetness for a considerable time!
