Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s make delicious air fryer chicken that’s incredibly flavorful and healthier, without any deep-frying!
Step 2
First, thoroughly wash the chicken under running water.
Step 3
Place the chicken in a large bowl. Pour in 2 cups of milk and enough water to fully submerge the chicken. Let it soak for about 30 minutes. This process helps to remove any gamey odors and tenderize the meat. (Tip: You can also use yogurt or cooking wine instead of milk.)
Step 4
After 30 minutes, drain the milk and water, and give the chicken a quick rinse. Return the chicken to the bowl. Add the marinade ingredients: 1 tablespoon of herb salt, 4 tablespoons of olive oil, and a pinch of black pepper.
Step 5
Using your hands, gently massage the seasoning into the chicken, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. (Tip: For even deeper flavor, marinate for 2-3 hours or even overnight.)
Step 6
Prepare the marinated chicken for the air fryer. Make a few shallow cuts into the thicker parts of the chicken, like the drumsticks. This helps heat penetrate better, ensuring the chicken cooks evenly throughout.
Step 7
Arrange the chicken pieces in the air fryer basket, making sure they don’t overlap. Overlapping can lead to uneven cooking.
Step 8
If your air fryer has a drip tray underneath, lining it with parchment paper will make cleanup significantly easier later on.
Step 9
Set your air fryer to 200°C (390°F) and cook for the first 15 minutes.
Step 10
After 15 minutes, carefully remove the chicken from the air fryer and flip each piece over. Return it to the air fryer and cook for another 15 minutes at 200°C (390°F) to ensure the other side is golden brown and cooked through.
Step 11
Depending on the size of your chicken and your air fryer, you might need to cook in batches. A great tip is to serve the first batch while the next is cooking. This way, you can enjoy your delicious chicken continuously! It’s better to cook in stages rather than all at once.
Step 12
And there you have it! Perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside – your simple and delicious air fryer chicken is ready!
Step 13
While deep-fried chicken might have a more intense flavor, this air fryer version is wonderfully light and satisfyingly crisp. The best part is enjoying a healthier version of your favorite fried chicken. Make this easy recipe at home and share it with your loved ones!
