Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 10g of dried seaweed. Soak it in cold water for about 30 minutes until fully rehydrated. Rinse the soaked seaweed thoroughly multiple times to remove any saltiness, and squeeze out excess water. Then, cut it into bite-sized pieces. This process will make the seaweed tender and remove impurities.
Step 2
Slice the beef into bite-sized pieces. In a pot, combine the rehydrated seaweed, 5ml of minced garlic, and 7.5ml of soup soy sauce. Mix them together well with your hands, as if kneading. Let this marinate for about 5 minutes. This step helps the beef absorb the flavors and removes any unique smell from the seaweed, resulting in a cleaner broth.
Step 3
Now, heat 7.5ml of sesame oil in the pot and sauté the marinated beef and seaweed. Start with high heat, then reduce to medium heat once the beef starts to cook. Once the beef is fully cooked, add 200ml of water and 7.5ml of soup soy sauce. Bring it back to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, cover the pot with a lid and let it simmer on medium heat for 2 minutes. At this point, the broth will become quite reduced and concentrated.
Step 4
After the broth has reduced, add the additional 300ml of water and 7.5ml of soup soy sauce. Bring it back to a boil over high heat. As soon as it starts boiling, immediately cover the pot, reduce the heat to medium-low, and simmer for 2 minutes. Finally, switch to low heat and continue simmering for another 3 minutes. This cooking process will develop a deeper and richer flavor in the soup.
Step 5
Once all cooking is complete, turn off the heat. Stir in 2.5ml of sesame oil (about 1 teaspoon) for a final touch. Your delicious beef and seaweed soup is now ready! Enjoy it piping hot with a bowl of rice.
