  • Ingredient Category : Processed foods
  • Occasion : Quick & Easy
  • Cooking : Boil / Simmer
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 5 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Ingredients

  • 1 pack instant ramen
  • 1/2 pack ramen soup powder
  • 350ml water
  • 3 sheets long fish cakes (odeng)
  • 1 handful cabbage
  • 1 stalk green onion
  • 1.3 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1.3 Tbsp sugar
  • Pinch of sesame seeds
  • 1 hard-boiled egg (optional)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the green onion to add flavor to your Rabokki. Finely chop about 1 stalk of green onion. You can also slice it diagonally if you prefer.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, let’s add some sweetness and a delightful crunch with cabbage. Chop about a handful of cabbage into bite-sized pieces. Adding vegetables makes the Rabokki much more substantial and delicious!

Step 2

Step 3

Don’t forget to use up any fish cakes (odeng) in your fridge! Thinly slice 3 sheets of long fish cakes. If you have thicker ones, slice them even thinner so they absorb the sauce well.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, it’s time to make the heart of your Rabokki sauce. Pour 350ml of water into a pot. Add the entire packet of ramen flakes and 1/2 packet of the soup powder. Including the flake packet adds a deeper, savory flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Add 1.3 Tbsp of gochujang for that signature spicy kick. Don’t be shy with the gochujang – it’s key to that classic Rabokki taste!

Step 5

Step 6

Also add 1.3 Tbsp of sugar to balance the heat. The perfect ratio of gochujang and sugar is the secret to delicious Rabokki! Use a spoon to thoroughly dissolve the gochujang, ensuring it’s well combined with the water at the bottom of the pot.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the sauce ingredients are mixed, bring the pot to a boil over high heat. As soon as it starts boiling vigorously, reduce the heat to medium-low to prevent the sauce from burning.

Step 7

Step 8

When the sauce is boiling, add your ramen noodles, the chopped cabbage, and the sliced fish cakes all at once. Adding everything together helps prevent the noodles from getting soggy.

Step 8

Step 9

Now, gently loosen the noodles with chopsticks to prevent them from sticking together. Stir occasionally, ensuring the sauce evenly coats the noodles and vegetables as they cook. Let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes, or until the noodles are cooked to your liking.

Step 9

Step 10

Just as the noodles are nearing doneness, add the chopped green onions you prepared earlier and mix well. The fresh aroma of the green onions will enhance the overall flavor of your Rabokki.

Step 10

Step 11

Serve your beautifully prepared Rabokki in a bowl. Sprinkle a pinch of sesame seeds on top for an extra nutty flavor, and voilà! Your super simple Rabokki is ready. If you have a hard-boiled egg on hand, serve it alongside for an even more satisfying meal. Despite its simplicity, this Rabokki tastes as rich and complex as if you spent hours making it. Enjoy your homemade Rabokki now!
