Spicy Kimchi Tomato Pasta
Perfect for a Home Meal! Delicious Kimchi Tomato Pasta Recipe That Kids Love
Introducing a delicious and easy-to-make Kimchi Tomato Pasta using spicy and sweet kimchi. This pasta, a favorite in school cafeterias, is perfect for special occasions or a simple meal. The harmony of kimchi’s savory flavor and tomato sauce is exceptional!
Ingredients- 1/2 head of well-fermented napa cabbage kimchi (approx. 300g), finely chopped
- 1 bottle of store-bought tomato spaghetti sauce (approx. 300-400g)
- Spaghetti noodles for 3 servings (approx. 240-300g)
- 1/2 onion, roughly chopped
- 3 sausages, sliced into bite-sized pieces (can substitute with bacon, etc., as desired)
- 3 Tbsp cooking oil
- Parsley flakes for garnish (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare half a head of kimchi. If your kimchi is too sour, you can add a little sugar. Finely chop the kimchi with a knife. It’s best to chop it into moderate pieces rather than too finely, so the texture remains intact.
Step 2
Next, prepare the 3 sausages and half an onion. Slice the sausages into bite-sized pieces, either round or lengthwise. Chop the onion similarly to the kimchi or a bit chunkier; this will give a pleasant texture when sautéed.
Step 3
In a large pot, bring plenty of water to a boil with a pinch of salt. Once boiling, add the spaghetti noodles for 3 servings and cook for about 1 minute less than the package instructions (usually around 8 minutes). Aim for al dente (slightly firm to the bite). Drain the cooked pasta in a colander and set aside.
Step 4
Heat 3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a deep pan or wok over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sausages, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent and the sausages are lightly browned. (Note: Because the kimchi provides a savory and tangy flavor that acts as part of the sauce, you don’t need to add minced garlic separately.)
Step 5
Once the onion and sausages are sufficiently sautéed, add the finely chopped kimchi to the pan. Stir-fry together until the kimchi softens slightly.
Step 6
When the kimchi is cooked to a degree and well combined with the other ingredients, proceed to the next step. You should be able to smell the spicy aroma and flavor of the kimchi rising.
Step 7
Add the drained spaghetti noodles to the pan. Toss gently to combine the noodles with the sautéed ingredients.
Step 8
Now, pour the entire bottle of store-bought tomato spaghetti sauce (approx. 300-400g) into the pan. Mix well to ensure the sauce coats the noodles and ingredients evenly.
Step 9
Continue to sauté for another 1-2 minutes until all ingredients and the sauce are well combined, and your delicious Kimchi Tomato Pasta is ready! For an extra touch, sprinkle with parsley flakes for garnish. Enjoy immediately while hot!
