- Pinch of Salt (to taste)
- Sesame Oil, a drizzle (for finishing)
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce (approx. 15ml) (Guk-ganjang or Jin-ganjang)
- Pinch of Salt (to taste)
- Sesame Oil, a drizzle (for finishing)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Pour 1 cup (200ml) of water into a pot and bring to a boil over high heat. Once it starts boiling, proceed to the next step.
Step 2
Add 2/3 cup (approx. 100g) of finely chopped kimchi to the pot and let it simmer for 1-2 minutes until the kimchi softens. Allow the kimchi’s flavor to infuse into the broth.
Step 3
Add 1 Tbsp (15ml) of soy sauce (Guk-ganjang or Jin-ganjang). Adjust the amount based on the saltiness of your kimchi, but it will add a savory depth.
Step 4
Add a pinch of salt to taste, adjusting the overall seasoning as needed. Add it gradually while tasting.
Step 5
Once the broth boils again, slowly add 6 Tbsp of oatmeal. Stir with a spatula to prevent clumping, and continue to cook for about 3-5 minutes until the oatmeal absorbs the water and the porridge thickens. It’s important to reduce the heat to low and stir continuously to prevent sticking.
Step 6
Ladle the finished Oatmeal Kimchi Tuna Porridge into bowls. Top with 1/2 can of drained tuna and a drizzle of sesame oil for an extra nutty aroma and enhanced flavor. Mix well and enjoy!
