Beef and Bean Sprout Stir-fry
Simple and Delicious Beef and Bean Sprout Stir-fry Recipe
Make a restaurant-quality beef and bean sprout stir-fry easily at home! This dish features a fantastic combination of fresh bean sprouts and tender beef, complemented by abundant vegetables for both flavor and nutrition. It’s perfect as a side dish for rice or as a tasty appetizer with drinks!
Main Ingredients- Bean sprouts 250g
- Beef (thinly sliced for stir-fry, like beef brisket rolls) 200g
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Before you begin, please check and prepare all your ingredients. Peel the onion and slice it thinly into long, even strips (about 0.5cm thick). Remove the stem from the chili pepper, shake out most of the seeds, and then finely chop it. Having all your ingredients prepped will make the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
Heat a wide frying pan over medium heat. Add the thinly sliced beef (any thinly sliced beef like brisket rolls or bulgogi-cut beef works well) and 2 tablespoons of minced garlic. Break up the beef as it cooks and stir-fry until it’s no longer pink. Be mindful of the heat to prevent the garlic from burning.
Step 3
Once the beef starts to change color and is mostly cooked, add the sliced onion and chopped chili pepper to the pan. Stir-fry together for about 1 minute until the onions become translucent. The sweetness of the onions will blend with the beef, enhancing the overall flavor.
Step 4
Pour 2 tablespoons of soy sauce into the pan, drizzling it along the edges. This helps the soy sauce caramelize slightly, adding a deeper savory note to the dish.
Step 5
Add 1 tablespoon of cooking wine (like mirin) to help eliminate any gamey odors from the beef and add a subtle fragrance. You can also use a small amount of sake or soju if you prefer.
Step 6
Now, add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, a key ingredient for flavor. Oyster sauce provides a balanced blend of umami, sweetness, and saltiness, elevating the taste of your bean sprout stir-fry.
Step 7
Finally, sprinkle in about 0.3 tablespoons of pepper. Pepper enhances the beef’s flavor and adds a subtle kick. Feel free to adjust the amount to your liking.
Step 8
Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, or until the beef is fully cooked and all the ingredients are well combined. Avoid overcooking to keep the beef tender.
Step 9
Once the beef is cooked, add all 250g of bean sprouts to the pan. Immediately turn OFF the heat! Use only the residual heat from the pan to toss the bean sprouts for about 10 seconds, ensuring they remain crisp and fresh. Overcooking will make them soggy, so stir quickly and briefly.
Step 10
Finish by sprinkling 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds generously over the top for a nutty aroma and flavor.
Step 11
Give everything a final mix and transfer your delicious beef and bean sprout stir-fry to a serving plate. Enjoy this wonderful dish as a satisfying side for rice or a delightful accompaniment to your drinks! It’s best served immediately while warm.
