Main Ingredients- 2 slices of bread
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbsp strawberry jam
- 1 slice of cheese
- 2 Tbsp butter
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Carefully cut out the center of one slice of bread to create a ‘frame’ shape. This makes it easier to add the filling and close the sandwich.
Step 2
Melt 1 Tbsp of butter in a heated pan over medium heat. Be careful not to burn the butter and ensure it coats the entire surface.
Step 3
Toast the bread ‘frame’ in the melted butter until golden brown on both sides. This step is crucial for achieving a crispy exterior and a soft interior.
Step 4
Crack one egg into the center of the toasted bread frame. Gently break the yolk with a fork or chopsticks and mix it with the egg white.
Step 5
As the egg begins to cook, gently brush some egg onto the bread using a pastry brush. Once the egg is partially set, place the other slice of bread on top to complete the ‘frame’ sandwich. Lightly press down to help the filling adhere.
Step 6
Carefully flip the sandwich and toast the other side in the buttered pan until golden brown. Ensure both sides are evenly cooked.
Step 7
Now it’s time to fill your French toast! Spread 2 Tbsp of sweet strawberry jam evenly over one slice of bread. Place 1 slice of cheese on top of the jam; the cheese will melt beautifully when cooked. Finally, cover it with the other slice of bread, creating a sandwich.
Step 8
In a separate bowl, crack and beat the remaining egg. You can use a spoon or a fork to whisk it. Generously coat the entire outside of the sandwich with the beaten egg, ensuring all sides are well covered.
Step 9
Add the remaining 1 Tbsp of butter to the pan and melt it over low heat. Place the egg-coated sandwich in the pan and cook slowly. Be mindful of the egg coating not to burn, flipping occasionally until the exterior is a golden brown and the inside is heated through.
Step 10
Once cooked, cut the delicious French toast into four equal pieces for easy serving. Enjoy this delightful treat with a warm cup of coffee or a glass of fresh milk for a perfect breakfast or brunch. Savor the harmonious blend of sweet and savory flavors!
