Hotcake Batter

  • 160g Hotcake mix
  • 80g Milk
  • 1 Egg

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, carefully prepare all the ingredients for your hotcakes. You’ll need fresh eggs, milk, and the hotcake mix. It’s also a good idea to have your chosen fruits and syrup ready for topping.

Step 1

Step 2

In a large bowl, pour in the milk. Crack the egg into the milk. Gently whisk with a fork or whisk until the egg and milk are well combined. Ensure there are no lumps for a smooth batter.

Step 2

Step 3

Add the hotcake mix to the egg and milk mixture. Sifting the mix can help prevent lumps and create a fluffier hotcake. Gently fold the ingredients together with a spatula or whisk until just combined. Avoid overmixing; overmixing can lead to tough hotcakes.

Step 3

Step 4

While the pan is preheating, lightly dampen a paper towel with cooking oil and gently wipe the surface of the pan. This helps prevent the batter from sticking and ensures your hotcakes cook evenly with a beautiful golden-brown color.

Step 4

Step 5

Place the pan over the lowest heat setting. It’s crucial to keep the heat low to prevent the hotcakes from burning. Ladle about one scoop of batter onto the center of the pan, forming a round shape. You can adjust the size according to your preference.

Step 5

Step 6

Cook on low heat until small bubbles start to appear all over the surface of the hotcake batter. This indicates it’s time to flip. The edges should look slightly set, and the bubbles in the center should be popping.

Step 6

Step 7

Carefully flip each hotcake. Continue to cook the second side on low heat until it’s golden brown. Be patient and cook slowly to ensure it’s cooked through without burning.

Step 7

Step 8

If you’re using a small pan like an egg pan with a small burner, gently move the pan around over the heat source as it cooks. This ensures even heat distribution across the entire surface, resulting in uniformly cooked hotcakes.

Step 8

Step 9

With the amount of batter prepared, you should be able to make approximately 6 hotcakes in an egg pan. Feel free to adjust the batter quantity to make larger or smaller hotcakes based on your child’s preference!

Step 9

Step 10

Once the hotcakes are freshly cooked, decorate them as you wish with the prepared frozen strawberries and a generous drizzle of maple syrup. Letting your child help with the decorating will make the experience even more engaging.

Step 10

Step 11

If fresh strawberries are out of season, frozen ones work wonderfully. Chop them into smaller pieces before placing them on the hotcakes for a more aesthetically pleasing presentation.

Step 11

Step 12

Add some thinly sliced yellow peaches, which are in season and wonderfully sweet, on top of the hotcakes. The colorful fruit toppings will make your hotcakes look even more appealing.

Step 12

Step 13

Slice the beautifully decorated hotcakes into portions and enjoy them while they’re warm! Cherish this special snack made together with your child and savor the happy moments!
