Rice Cake Ingredients

  • 1 bowl Tteokbokki rice cakes (approx. 200g)
  • 1 bowl Cabbage (approx. 100g, cut into large pieces)
  • 2/3 bowl Onion (approx. 150g, cut into thick strips)

Meat & Seasoning

  • 100ml Minced pork (approx. 50g)
  • 80ml Black bean powder (approx. 30g)
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar (approx. 10g)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, rinse the tteokbokki rice cakes in cold water. Cut the cabbage into large pieces and the onion into thick strips. Measure out the minced pork.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat a wide pan over medium heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Add the tteokbokki rice cakes and stir-fry until they are slightly softened and lightly golden. It’s important to stir occasionally to prevent the rice cakes from sticking to the pan.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the rice cakes are somewhat fried, push them to one side of the pan and add the minced pork.

Step 3

Step 4

Break up the minced pork and stir-fry it until it’s fully cooked and no longer pink. Sautéing it well will bring out its flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

When the pork is cooked, mix it with the fried rice cakes, then add all the sliced cabbage and onions.

Step 5

Step 6

Continue to stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the vegetables to soften and all the ingredients to meld together. Be mindful of the heat to prevent the rice cakes from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the vegetables and rice cakes are tender and well combined, sprinkle the black bean powder evenly over the ingredients in the pan.

Step 7

Step 8

Quickly toss everything together to ensure the black bean powder coats all the ingredients evenly and doesn’t clump. Stir-frying for a bit longer will help develop the flavor.

Step 8

Step 9

Finally, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and give it a quick mix. Your delicious Black Bean Oil-Fried Rice Cakes are ready! Enjoy them while they’re warm.
