Main Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of square fish cakes (approx. 100g)
  • 100g of Tteokguk rice cakes (rice cake slices for soup)
  • 6 Vienna sausages (approx. 55g)
  • 5g green onion (approx. 1/4 stalk)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

If your Tteokguk rice cakes are frozen, soak them in lukewarm water for about 10 minutes. This step helps to separate the cakes, making them softer and preventing them from sticking to the pan, resulting in a chewier texture.

Step 1

Step 2

Cut the square fish cakes into bite-sized pieces, such as triangles or rectangles, about 2-3 cm wide. Cutting them into manageable sizes will make them easier for children to eat.

Step 2

Step 3

Wash the green onion thoroughly, then thinly slice both the white and green parts. The subtle aroma and texture of the onion will enhance the overall flavor of the dish.

Step 3

Step 4

Trim the ends of the Vienna sausages for a neater appearance. You can make a few diagonal cuts on the sausages or slice them diagonally into bite-sized pieces for better texture and sauce absorption. These cuts help the sauce penetrate more deeply.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Add the soaked Tteokguk rice cakes and stir occasionally until they turn golden brown and slightly chewy. Gently stir-frying the rice cakes first gives them a delightful chewy texture.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the rice cakes are lightly browned, add the prepared fish cakes and Vienna sausages to the pan. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce evenly over all the ingredients.

Step 6

Step 7

Stir-fry everything together with a spatula or chopsticks for about 2-3 minutes, ensuring the oyster sauce coats the rice cakes, fish cakes, and sausages evenly. Finally, add the sliced green onions and continue to stir-fry for about 1 more minute, or until the green onions are slightly softened. Turn off the heat. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds, if desired, for a delicious finished dish!
