Chewy Rice Fish Cake and Sausage Stir-fry in Soy Glaze

I was intrigued by a new rice fish cake set I found at a large supermarket, so I bought it and decided to make a braised side dish with some sausages I had at home. They say it contains rice, and indeed, it’s noticeably chewy and delicious. This dish is a wonderful accompaniment to rice or a tasty snack for kids.

Main Ingredients

  • Rice fish cakes 300g (flat type)
  • Frankfurter sausages 5 pieces
  • Green onion ½ stalk

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp Minced garlic
  • 2-3 Tbsp Oligosaccharide (adjust sweetness to taste)
  • A little Sesame oil
  • A little Toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare the star ingredients: chewy rice fish cakes and tasty frankfurter sausages. (Rice fish cakes can be purchased at large supermarkets like Homeplus.)

Step 1

Step 2

Cut the rice fish cakes into bite-sized pieces. Slice the sausages to a similar size as the fish cakes. Chop the green onion into thick, slanted pieces to add a fragrant aroma.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced rice fish cakes, sausages, and green onions. Stir-fry until the ingredients are lightly golden brown for enhanced flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, add all the seasoning ingredients. Mix in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic, and 2-3 tablespoons of oligosaccharide for sweetness. Stir well to coat all ingredients evenly with the sauce.

Step 4

Step 5

It’s important to let the sauce reduce and the flavors meld. Add half a cup of water (about 100ml) and continue to stir-fry over medium-low heat for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. This process allows the delicious sauce to penetrate the fish cakes and sausages. Adjust the amount of oligosaccharide according to your preference for sweetness.

Step 5

Step 6

Once everything is nicely glazed, turn off the heat. Finish by drizzling a little sesame oil and sprinkling some toasted sesame seeds for a nutty aroma. Enjoy the fantastic combination of chewy rice fish cakes, thanks to the rice flour, and sausages! My daughter loved it and said it was delicious. She even asked for it to be added to tteokbokki next time! Your chewy rice fish cake and sausage stir-fry is ready to be served as a delicious side dish with rice!
