Main Ingredients

  • 600g thinly sliced beef for Bulgogi
  • 1/2 medium onion
  • 3 stalks oyster mushrooms

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, gently pat the thinly sliced beef for Bulgogi with paper towels to remove excess blood. Slice it into bite-sized pieces. Peel and thinly slice the onion. Tear the oyster mushrooms into individual strands.

Step 1

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the sliced beef and the sliced onion. Now, let’s start making the delicious Bulgogi marinade. We’ll make it quickly and easily.

Step 2

Step 3

Remove the skin and core from the apple and pear, then blend them into a smooth puree. The natural sweetness from the fruits will make the beef extra tender and flavorful.

Step 3

Step 4

To the blended fruit puree, add the soy sauce, plum extract, cooking wine, Cheongju, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Stir everything together with a spoon until well combined. Pour this marinade over the beef and onion in the bowl. Gently mix with your hands to ensure the marinade coats everything evenly. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or ideally overnight, for a more tender and deeply flavored Bulgogi. This marination process helps eliminate any gamey odor and tenderizes the meat.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the marinated Bulgogi, including all the marinade, to the hot pan. Add the torn oyster mushrooms as well. Use chopsticks or a spatula to gently separate the meat so it doesn’t clump together as it cooks. Stir-fry until the sauce has reduced and the beef is fully cooked. Once the beef is done, turn off the heat and drizzle with sesame oil for added aroma and flavor. Your delicious homemade Bulgogi is now ready!

Step 5

Step 6

Transfer the cooked Bulgogi to a serving plate. Finish by sprinkling toasted sesame seeds over the top. If you have chopped green onions, you can also sprinkle them on top for a beautiful garnish and a fresh, complementary flavor. The combination of green onions and Bulgogi is truly fantastic.
