Main Ingredients- 1 cup Tteokbokki rice cakes (approx. 200g)
- 4 pre-made Tteokgalbi patties (or homemade)
- 1/2 King Oyster Mushroom
- 1/2 Onion
- 1/4 Carrot
- 1 Cabbage leaf
- 1/3 Scallion stalk
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- Pinch of Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
Tteokbokki Seasoning- 2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 cup Water (approx. 200ml)
- Pinch of Salt (to taste)
- Pinch of Black Pepper (for flavor)
- 2 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 cup Water (approx. 200ml)
- Pinch of Salt (to taste)
- Pinch of Black Pepper (for flavor)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all vegetables and Tteokgalbi into bite-sized pieces. Slice the king oyster mushroom, cabbage, onion, and carrot into roughly 1-1.5 cm pieces, and cut the Tteokgalbi into similar sizes. Slice the scallion diagonally into large pieces. Rinse the tteokbokki rice cakes under cold water and drain them.
Step 2
Heat 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. First, sauté the onion and carrot until fragrant. Then, add the tteokbokki rice cakes and stir-fry until their surface becomes slightly translucent. Stir occasionally to prevent the rice cakes from sticking together.
Step 3
Once the rice cakes are partially cooked, add the sliced cabbage, king oyster mushroom, and Tteokgalbi to the pan and stir-fry together. Once the ingredients are well combined, add the oyster sauce, water, salt, and pepper, mixing thoroughly for the seasoning to distribute evenly. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and continue to cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the rice cakes are tender and the sauce has thickened. Taste and add a little more salt if needed.
Step 4
When the Tteokbokki reaches your desired consistency, turn off the heat. Finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma and sprinkle with a pinch of sesame seeds for a garnish. Your delicious Tteokgalbi Tteokbokki is ready! Enjoy it while it’s hot.
