Main Ingredients

  • 6 frozen dumplings
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/4 stalk green onion

Kkanpung Sauce

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oyster sauce (approx. 5g)
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar (approx. 15ml)
  • 1 Tbsp sugar (approx. 10g)
  • 1/2 Tbsp corn syrup or oligodang (approx. 5g)
  • 2 Tbsp water (approx. 30ml)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the frozen dumplings and fry until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides. Frying them thoroughly will enhance their texture and flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

While the dumplings are frying, prepare the aromatics. Finely chop the green onion and roughly chop the onion. If you like a bit of heat, you can also thinly slice red chili peppers or green chilies to add.

Step 2

Step 3

In a small bowl, combine all the Kkanpung sauce ingredients: soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir well until the sugar is dissolved. Having the sauce ready beforehand makes cooking much smoother.

Step 3

Step 4

In a separate pan, heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil over medium heat. Add the chopped green onion and onion and sauté until they become translucent and fragrant. Be careful not to overcook them, as you want them to retain some texture.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the vegetables are lightly sautéed, pour in the prepared Kkanpung sauce. Bring to a quick simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sauce slightly thickens. Watch closely to prevent burning.

Step 5

Step 6

When the sauce starts to bubble, add the golden-brown fried dumplings to the pan. Toss them quickly to ensure they are evenly coated with the delicious Kkanpung sauce.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the dumplings and sauce are well combined, remove from heat. Transfer the finished Kkanpung Mandu to a serving plate. Enjoy immediately while warm to savor the perfect crispiness and delightful sweet and sour taste.
