Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 sausage (e.g., Vienna sausage)
  • 2 Tbsp shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • A pinch of dried parsley flakes

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, gather all the necessary ingredients for your delicious egg bread. You’ll need 2 slices of bread, 1 sausage, 2 tablespoons of shredded cheese, 2 eggs, and a sprinkle of parsley flakes. Don’t forget the 2 paper cups that will serve as your molds!

Step 1

Step 2

Trim off the crusts from the edges of the 2 slices of bread. Using only the soft inner part of the bread will make shaping it much easier later on.

Step 2

Step 3

Using a rolling pin or the bottom of a cup, gently flatten each slice of bread. Then, carefully make shallow cuts on all four sides of each bread slice. These cuts will allow you to easily fold up the sides to form a cup shape. Be careful not to cut too deep.

Step 3

Step 4

Finely chop the sausage into small pieces. Since it will be placed inside the folded bread, chopping it small makes it easier to eat and ensures a good distribution of flavor. Smaller pieces also help maintain the shape of the bread cup.

Step 4

Step 5

Gently fold up the sides of the bread along the cuts you made, creating a cup-like shape. Place each bread cup securely inside a paper cup. Now it’s time to fill them! First, evenly distribute the chopped sausage. Then, carefully crack one egg into each bread cup. Finally, generously sprinkle the shredded cheese over the sausage. (Alternatively, you can add the egg last depending on your preference).

Step 5

Step 6

Sprinkle the dried parsley flakes over the top of the fillings for an extra touch of flavor and color. Place the prepared egg bread into a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) and bake for about 15 minutes. The baking time might vary slightly depending on your oven. If you prefer your egg yolk fully cooked (hard-boiled), bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, totaling around 20-25 minutes. Once golden brown and puffed up, your delicious egg bread is ready to enjoy!
