Cooking Instructions

Step 1

A whole box of potatoes? No need to panic now!

Step 1

Step 2

The first step is to air-dry the potatoes. If you have fresh potatoes, spread out some newspaper and place the potatoes on top. Let them dry in a well-ventilated area at room temperature for one day to remove excess moisture from the surface. This crucial step helps prevent the potatoes from rotting or sprouting.

Step 2

Step 3

Next, prepare a clean, empty box to store the potatoes. A fruit box or a regular shipping box that allows for good air circulation will work well.

Step 3

Step 4

Make sure to poke holes in all parts of the box – especially the bottom, sides, and lid. You can use a skewer or a knife. It’s best to make plenty of holes to ensure good ventilation. This is key to proper potato storage!

Step 4

Step 5

Now, lay down a thick layer of newspaper at the bottom of the box. The newspaper will absorb any moisture that rises from the bottom.

Step 5

Step 6

Carefully place the potatoes, which you’ve already air-dried, into the box. It’s important to arrange them so that they are not touching each other too much. Leaving some space between the potatoes helps prevent moisture buildup, which keeps them fresh.

Step 6

Step 7

Once you’ve filled the first layer of potatoes, cover them with another layer of newspaper. Then, add another layer of potatoes, followed by more newspaper. Continue this process, alternating layers of potatoes and newspaper. Finally, cover the top layer of potatoes with newspaper to enclose everything.

Step 7

Step 8

Potatoes stored this way will remain fresh for a long time, preventing them from sprouting or becoming mushy. Now, buying a box of potatoes will feel completely manageable! Use this storage method to enjoy a wide variety of delicious potato dishes like stir-fries, stews, braises, and fries to your heart’s content!
