Spicy & Sweet! Mouthwatering Yeolmu Kimchi Bibimbap

For all the bibimbap lovers out there, today I’m sharing a super simple Yeolmu Kimchi Bibimbap recipe that uses just the fermented radish kimchi from your fridge to create a delightful meal. It’s perfect for those times when your appetite feels a bit sluggish!

Bibimbap Ingredients

  • Generous amount of well-fermented Yeolmu Kimchi
  • 3 Tbsp canned tuna (drained)
  • 1 fresh egg
  • 2 bowls of warm cooked rice
  • A pinch of toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s make the special sauce that will make our Yeolmu Kimchi Bibimbap truly shine. This is my go-to sauce ratio for bibimbap. In a bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of gochujang, 1 tablespoon of oligodang, 0.5 tablespoon of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Finally, sprinkle in a good pinch of toasted sesame seeds for that nutty aroma. Simply mix everything together with a spoon, and you’ll have a versatile bibimbap sauce that’s delicious enough to eat on its own!

Step 1

Step 2

Ta-da! Our special bibimbap sauce is ready, and it looks absolutely delicious! With this sauce, you can enjoy a depth of flavor that’s worlds apart from just using plain gochujang.

Step 2

Step 3

Alright, shall we start mixing? Today, I’m preparing a hearty bibimbap in a large mixing bowl. First, add two bowls of warm cooked rice to the bowl. Then, generously top the rice with 3 tablespoons of canned tuna, making sure to drain out as much oil as possible.

Step 3

Step 4

Next, chop the crisp Yeolmu Kimchi into bite-sized pieces and place it over the rice. Now, instead of adding all the special sauce at once, I recommend adding about two-thirds of it to start. You can always add more later to adjust the taste to your preference. Adding it gradually is a key tip to avoid making it too salty or overpowering!

Step 4

Step 5

Doesn’t this Yeolmu Kimchi Bibimbap look incredibly appetizing? Mixing it with chopsticks makes my mouth water! It feels especially satisfying to enjoy it bibimbap-style in a big bowl after a long time. Looking at it now, I’m getting hungry all over again.

Step 5

Step 6

No bibimbap is complete without a perfectly fried egg on top! Fry an egg to your liking, preferably sunny-side up with a slightly runny yolk. This alone is great, but there’s one more step to elevate the flavor even further.

Step 6

Step 7

Gently pierce the yolk with your chopsticks and let it run into the rice and other ingredients. Mix everything together thoroughly. The rich, creamy yolk will blend beautifully with the sauce, creating an even smoother and more flavorful bite. If you have leftover Yeolmu Kimchi at home, try this recipe for a quick and satisfying meal.

Step 7

Step 8

The moment you take your first bite, you’ll be amazed! It was so delicious that I finished the whole bowl in no time. I paired it with a hearty bowl of Doenjang Jjigae (fermented soybean paste stew), and the combination was absolutely divine! Today, make your mealtime special with this delicious Yeolmu Kimchi Bibimbap. Enjoy your meal!
