Enjoying Tender Grilled Chicken Breast with a New Oven Air Fryer

Moist Oven Air Fryer Grilled Chicken Breast

I decided to thaw out two chicken breasts from my freezer to get acquainted with my new kitchen companion, ‘Reddy,’ my oven-style air fryer. Chicken breast can sometimes be a bit dry, but with a little care in temperature and time, it can be cooked to a wonderfully moist and tender perfection. It’s a versatile ingredient that pairs well with almost anything, whether served on its own, tossed in pasta, or added to a salad. Today, I’ve marinated it with a touch of spice and air-fried it, then served it with perilla leaves and onions, which have become my favorite vegetables lately. It turned out wonderfully savory without needing any special sauce!

Main Ingredients

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tsp Cayenne pepper
  • Pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season them generously on both sides with salt and black pepper. This initial seasoning is key for flavor penetration.

Step 1

Step 2

Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of cayenne pepper evenly over the seasoned chicken breasts, ensuring it’s coated on all sides. You can adjust the amount based on your spice preference. Flip the chicken breasts and repeat the process on the other side for balanced flavor.

Step 2

Step 3

Lightly spray the air fryer basket or grill rack with cooking oil. This helps prevent the chicken from sticking, ensuring a clean release. (Optional)

Step 3

Step 4

Arrange the marinated chicken breasts on the oiled grill rack. Make sure not to overcrowd the basket; give them space so they cook evenly and develop a nice crust.

Step 4

Step 5

Pour about half an inch of water into the drip tray at the bottom of the air fryer. This moisture will help keep the chicken breast tender during cooking. Place the tray in the lowest rack position. Cook at 350°F (approximately 175°C) for 25 minutes. Check for doneness halfway through and adjust cooking time if necessary, ensuring the chicken is cooked through but still juicy.

Step 5

Step 6

Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken breasts from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes. Slice them into your desired thickness. Admire the juicy interior – a sign of perfectly cooked chicken breast!

Step 6

Step 7

Serve the warm, grilled chicken breast with your favorite dipping sauce, such as a light vinaigrette, spicy chili sauce, or honey mustard. Alternatively, enjoy it with fresh perilla leaves, thinly sliced onions, or pickled radish wraps for a refreshing accompaniment. The beauty of this dish is its versatility – enjoy it your way!
