Main Ingredients- 3 Dried Persimmons (choose ones that are not too dry)
- 20g Unsalted Butter (softened at room temperature)
- A pinch of Salt (adjust to taste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, to beautifully shape the persimmons, make a shallow cut along the split side (the indented part) and carefully open them up lengthwise. Then, meticulously remove any hard seeds from the inside of the persimmons. Leaving seeds in can make them unpleasant to eat.
Step 2
Once the persimmons are opened and the seeds are removed, spread the softened butter evenly and thinly over the surface of each persimmon. You can adjust the amount of butter to your preference, but be mindful not to use too much, as it might overpower the persimmon’s natural flavor.
Step 3
Now, gently roll up the butter-spread persimmons, similar to how you would roll sushi. It’s important to roll them carefully to prevent tearing. To maintain their shape, place the rolled persimmon on parchment paper or plastic wrap and roll it up tightly, like making a sushi roll. Then, twist both ends neatly, like wrapping a piece of candy, to secure the shape.
Step 4
Once shaped, place the persimmon butter rolls in the refrigerator for about 1 hour to chill and firm up. This will allow the butter to solidify, making them easier to slice.
Step 5
Remove the chilled persimmon butter rolls from the refrigerator and slice them into bite-sized pieces, about 1 to 1.5 cm thick. If the butter sticks to your knife, slightly warming the blade or dipping it in water before slicing will help you achieve cleaner cuts.
Step 6
The finished persimmon butter rolls are delicious to eat immediately. However, if you wish to savor the butter’s flavor even more, we recommend letting them sit at room temperature for about 1 hour until the butter is slightly softened before serving. If you used unsalted butter, this is the perfect time to sprinkle a tiny pinch of salt over the rolls to enhance the delightful sweet and salty contrast. Of course, you can omit the salt if you prefer.
