This is Luna, who succeeded in her diet with a weight-loss recipe and is now a ‘maintenance eater’! Oatmeal, made from pressed oats, is rich in dietary fiber, making it an excellent food for weight loss. This recipe allows you to make oatmeal porridge quickly and easily using the microwave, ensuring a warm and satisfying meal even on busy mornings. It’s especially highly recommended as an oatmeal lunchbox for busy working individuals on a diet. Today, I’m introducing ‘Tuna Kimchi Oatmeal Porridge,’ which adds protein with tuna and enhances flavor with kimchi. Plus, it’s incredibly convenient as you can make it without a cutting board or knife, just using scissors and a microwave! Shall we learn how to make oatmeal porridge right now?
Ingredients- Oatmeal 50g
- 1 can Tuna (drained)
- 30g Well-fermented Kimchi
- 20g Chives
- Pinch of Black Pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the canned tuna. Place it in a sieve to drain the oil completely. Draining the oil prevents the oatmeal porridge from becoming too greasy and keeps it deliciously mild.
Step 2
If you don’t have time to soak the oats beforehand, you can easily make a porridge-like consistency using the microwave. Briefly microwaving the oats separately will result in a much softer texture. Place 50g of oatmeal in a microwave-safe bowl. Add water in a 1:1 ratio with the oatmeal (enough to cover the oats). Microwave for about 2 minutes.
Step 3
Prepare the kimchi and chives. Lightly rinse well-fermented kimchi under water to slightly reduce its spiciness, then finely chop it into bite-sized pieces with scissors. Chop the chives to a similar size as the kimchi. This step avoids using a cutting board and knife, reducing your washing up!
Step 4
Now, it’s time to combine all the ingredients in one bowl. In a deep, microwave-safe bowl, add the drained tuna, the lightly microwaved oats, the chopped kimchi, and the chives. Finally, sprinkle a pinch of black pepper to taste for added flavor.
Step 5
Pour water into the bowl containing the ingredients. Add enough water to cover the oatmeal and other ingredients. (The amount of water can be adjusted to your preference.) Next, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and poke 3-4 small holes in the wrap with a chopstick or fork to allow steam to escape.
Step 6
Microwave the prepared oatmeal porridge for about 3 minutes. Cooking times may vary depending on your microwave’s power. It’s a good idea to check it halfway through. If the porridge seems too thin, you can cover it again and microwave for an additional 30 seconds to 1 minute to reach your desired consistency. Your warm and satisfying Tuna Kimchi Oatmeal Porridge is ready!
