Main Ingredients

  • 1 fresh egg
  • 1 bowl of warm rice
  • Approx. 1/3 can of tuna

Seasoning & Others

  • Cooking oil (for frying)
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) to taste
  • 1 Tbsp perilla oil (deulgireum)
  • 1 pinch of salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare one egg. Remove the chalaza (stringy bits) and beat it well with a whisk, adding a pinch of salt. Heat a little cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat and pour in the beaten egg to make scrambled eggs. The key is to cook them until just set and still moist, not overcooked.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, prepare the rice, which is the base of bibimbap. If using leftover rice, warm it up in the microwave or in a pot. Warm rice significantly enhances the overall flavor of the bibimbap.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, transfer the warm rice and the prepared moist scrambled eggs into a bowl. Using a stainless steel bowl is recommended as it retains heat well, contributing to a better bibimbap experience. (Stainless steel bowls are truly the best for mixing bibimbap!)

Step 3

Step 4

Next, add the gochujang to the bowl. Adjust the amount according to your preference for spiciness – more if you like it hot, less if you prefer it milder.

Step 4

Step 5

After the gochujang, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of perilla oil for a nutty aroma and rich flavor. The fragrant scent of perilla oil will elevate the taste of your bibimbap.

Step 5

Step 6

Finally, drain the excess oil from the tuna can and add the tuna chunks to the bowl. The mild flavor of the tuna complements the egg and gochujang beautifully, creating a satisfying taste.

Step 6

Step 7

Now, use a spoon to mix all the ingredients together thoroughly! Ensure the scrambled eggs are gently broken up and distributed evenly throughout the rice.

Step 7

Step 8

Voila! Your simple yet delicious Egg Gochujang Bibimbap is ready. Take a big spoonful and enjoy!
