  • 200g Hot cake mix
  • 20 pcs Vienna sausages
  • 200g Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Egg
  • 80mL Milk
  • Plenty of cooking oil (for frying)

First, prepare your Vienna sausages. Insert a wooden skewer or popsicle stick firmly into one end of each sausage. Using medium-sized sausages makes them easier for children to handle. Ensure the skewer is securely in place so it doesn’t wiggle.

Now, let’s make the hot dog batter. In a wide bowl, add the 200g of hot cake mix, crack in 1 egg, and pour in 80mL of milk. Use a whisk or a fork to mix everything until you have a smooth batter with no lumps. If the batter is too thin, it won’t coat the sausages well, and if it’s too thick, the hot dogs might turn out too hard when fried. Adjust the milk amount as needed to achieve the right consistency.

Dip the skewered sausages into the prepared batter, ensuring they are coated evenly. Make sure the batter covers the entire sausage. If too much batter sticks, the exterior might be too thick after frying, so you can gently shake off any excess.

Transfer the batter-coated sausages to a plate filled with breadcrumbs. Coat them thoroughly with breadcrumbs, gently pressing them down with your hands to ensure they stick firmly. A good coating of breadcrumbs is key to achieving a wonderfully crispy texture when fried.
