Main Ingredients- 100g fresh asparagus
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 shiitake mushrooms
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by trimming about 1 to 2 cm from the tough bottom end of each asparagus spear. This ensures the rest of the asparagus is tender and enjoyable.
Step 2
Using a vegetable peeler or a small knife, carefully peel the outer skin of the asparagus spears, starting from the trimmed bottom. Pay a little extra attention to the lower part, peeling a bit more thoroughly for maximum tenderness.
Step 3
Slice the peeled asparagus diagonally into pieces about 1 to 2 cm thick. This shape helps the asparagus cook evenly and absorb flavors beautifully.
Step 4
Thinly slice the garlic cloves to prepare them for sautéing. The garlic will infuse the dish with its wonderful aroma and flavor.
Step 5
Slice the shiitake mushrooms into thin strips. Their unique earthy flavor and chewy texture will complement the asparagus wonderfully.
Step 6
Heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced asparagus and a pinch of salt, then stir-fry. The salt helps to enhance the natural sweetness of the asparagus.
Step 7
Once the asparagus is about halfway cooked and slightly tender, add the sliced mushrooms and garlic to the pan. Now, add the oyster sauce (1/2 Tbsp), sugar (1/2 Tbsp), and sweet chili sauce (1 Tbsp). Increase the heat to high and stir-fry quickly until everything is well combined and cooked through. Cooking over high heat ensures the asparagus stays crisp-tender and the mushrooms retain their texture!
