Let’s create this delightful meal together!

  • Ingredient Category : Others
  • Occasion : Lunchbox
  • Cooking : Stir-fry
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Essential Ingredients

  • 1 bowl of warm rice
  • 2 sheets of aged kimchi
  • 2 sausages
  • 1 egg
  • 1 slice of cheddar cheese
  • 1 Tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 Tbsp furikake (rice seasoning)
  • 1 handful of shredded seaweed (gim)
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Let’s start by preparing the rice. To one bowl of warm rice, add the shredded seaweed, furikake, and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. This forms the flavorful base, much like preparing for a delicious fried rice!

Step 1

Step 2

Using a spatula or spoon, gently mix everything together, being careful not to mash the rice grains. Ensure the seasonings are evenly coated on each grain for maximum flavor.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s prepare the star ingredient: the aged kimchi. Lightly squeeze out excess moisture from the kimchi, then finely chop it. Chopping it finely is key to a pleasant texture when you bite into the burger; overly large pieces can be uncomfortable.

Step 3

Step 4

For the plump sausages, briefly blanch them in boiling water for about 10 to 20 seconds. This step helps remove any impurities and prevents them from bursting when sautéed, resulting in a better texture.

Step 4

Step 5

Once blanched, let the sausages cool slightly, then slice them thinly. Slicing them about 0.5 cm thick provides a satisfying bite and integrates well with the other ingredients.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, let’s make the delicious toppings! First, crack one egg into a frying pan and cook it until golden brown and slightly crispy. A runny yolk adds another layer of richness to the rice burger, so consider cooking it to your preference. Set the cooked egg aside for now.

Step 6

Step 7

Next, we’ll make the flavorful kimchi and sausage mixture. Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the sliced sausages and sauté them lightly until they turn a nice golden brown and release some of their savory juices.

Step 7

Step 8

Once the sausages are beautifully browned, add the chopped kimchi to the pan and stir-fry everything together. If your kimchi is particularly sour, adding a tiny pinch of sugar can balance the acidity and enhance the flavor. Once the mixture is well combined and fragrant, turn off the heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 8

Step 9

It’s time to assemble the rice burger! Lay out a sheet of plastic wrap. Place one bowl of the seasoned rice onto the wrap and gently press it down, forming a flat, slightly thick base for the burger. Making it a bit substantial prevents it from falling apart once filled.

Step 9

Step 10

On top of the rice base, place one slice of cheddar cheese. As it melts from the warmth of the rice, it creates a wonderfully gooey texture.

Step 10

Step 11

Carefully place the golden-fried egg on top of the cheese. Try not to break the yolk if you’ve cooked it sunny-side up!

Step 11

Step 12

Now for the crowning glory of the rice burger! Generously pile the delicious kimchi and sausage mixture over the egg. Don’t be shy – more filling means a more satisfying burger!

Step 12

Step 13

Finally, drizzle mayonnaise in a zig-zag pattern over the filling. The creamy mayonnaise complements the spicy kimchi and savory sausage perfectly, adding another layer of deliciousness.

Step 13

Step 14

Place the remaining seasoned rice on top of the filling to form the top of the burger. Now, carefully wrap the entire burger with the plastic wrap. Press firmly and evenly all around to shape the burger tightly. This wrapping technique is crucial for ensuring the burger holds its shape without falling apart. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to set.

Step 14

Step 15

Voila! Your magnificent Kimchi Sausage Rice Burger is complete! It looks incredibly satisfying and smells absolutely delicious. Enjoy your homemade creation!
