Recipe Info

  • Category : Rice / Porridge / Rice cake
  • Ingredient Category : Beef
  • Occasion : Lunchbox
  • Cooking : Others
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 30 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pack of square inarizushi kit (small size)
  • 100g ground beef
  • 1 slice each of yellow and white processed cheese
  • A little bit of roasted seaweed (gim)
  • A little bit of green onion (for garnish)

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp mirin (sweet cooking wine)
  • 2 Tbsp corn syrup (or rice syrup)
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • A pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, finely chop the green onions that will be used for garnish. If you don’t have green onions, feel free to skip this step. (It’s just for decoration, so don’t worry about it!)

Step 2

Next, let’s season the ground beef. In a bowl, combine 100g of ground beef with 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp mirin, 2 Tbsp corn syrup, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, and a pinch of black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.

Step 3

Now, cook the seasoned ground beef in a pan over medium heat. Once the beef is almost cooked through, add 1 Tbsp of sugar and stir-fry again until it becomes glossy. This completes the stir-fried beef topping.

Step 4

Prepare the sushi rice by mixing one packet of warm cooked rice (hetban) with the furikake (seasoning sachet) from the inarizushi kit. Then, add half of the stir-fried beef to the rice and mix well. For the seasoning liquid from the kit, don’t use the entire packet; add only about half, adjusting to your taste. It’s best to taste as you go to avoid making it too salty.

Step 5

Now, let’s create cute Rilakkuma shapes using the processed cheese slices. Use both yellow and white cheese to cut out shapes for the eyes, nose, and mouth. (Refer to the video for a detailed guide on this step!) If you have a seaweed punch, it makes cutting out shapes for the cheese and seaweed much easier and more convenient.

Step 6

It’s time to prepare the fried tofu pouches (aburaage). Squeeze out the excess liquid gently, leaving about 80% of the moisture. Don’t squeeze them too dry, as you want them to remain moist and flavorful.

Step 7

Fill the prepared tofu pouches with the seasoned sushi rice. Top generously with the stir-fried beef. Finally, garnish with the chopped green onions to complete the delicious beef-topped inarizushi! For the Rilakkuma inarizushi, follow the same steps for filling the rice, but instead of beef topping, use the cheese and seaweed cutouts to create the Rilakkuma face. (Please refer to the video for instructions!) And there you have it – two types of special inarizushi completed!
