Steak Ingredients

  • 440g Beef Tenderloin for Steak (choose a thick cut)
  • 1/2 Fresh Onion
  • 1 Small Zucchini or Eggplant
  • 7 Green Beans
  • 1/2 tsp High-Quality Olive Oil
  • Pinch of Salt (to taste)
  • Pinch of Black Pepper (to taste)

Special Steak Sauce

  • 2 Tbsp Flavorful Butter
  • 3 Tbsp Finely Minced Onion
  • 2 Tbsp Rich Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Store-bought Steak Sauce
  • 6 Tbsp Sweet and Tangy Ketchup
  • 2 Tbsp Aromatic Red Wine
  • 1 + 1/2 Tbsp Sugar

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Gently pat the beef tenderloin dry with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. Properly draining the blood is key to achieving a tender texture and preventing any unwanted gamey flavors.

Step 1

Step 2

Brush the drained tenderloin generously with olive oil on both sides. Season well with salt and freshly ground black pepper. For the green beans, blanch them in boiling water for about 2-3 minutes until crisp-tender, then immediately plunge them into ice water to stop the cooking and drain well. Slice the onion into thick wedges, and cut the eggplant (or zucchini) into diagonal pieces.

Step 2

Step 3

Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced onion and sauté until fragrant and translucent, being careful not to burn it. While the onion cooks, in a separate bowl, combine all the steak sauce ingredients: Worcestershire sauce, store-bought steak sauce, ketchup, red wine, and sugar. Mix well. Pour this sauce mixture into the pan with the sautéed onions. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency, stirring occasionally.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat another pan over medium-high heat and add 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil. Place the seasoned tenderloin steak in the hot pan and sear to your preferred level of doneness (e.g., for medium-rare, about 3-4 minutes per side). When you flip the steak, add the prepared onion wedges, eggplant slices, and blanched green beans to the same pan to cook alongside. Lightly season the vegetables with a bit of salt and pepper as they cook for enhanced flavor.
