Delicious Homemade Chicken Skewers
Enjoy Delicious Chicken Skewers Easily at Home!
Hello, this is Gurumdalbit! Today, I’ll share how to make chicken skewers. Many people think of chicken skewers as something you buy, wondering ‘How can I make this at home?’. But you can indeed make delicious chicken skewers right in your kitchen! They are perfect as a snack with drinks or as a treat for kids. Buying them can be expensive for the small portions. Now, make them easily at home!
Ingredients- Chicken (thigh or breast meat) 169g
- White part of green onion 1/4 stalk
- Soy sauce 2 Tbsp
- Oyster sauce 2 Tbsp
- Sugar 2 Tbsp
- Minced garlic 1 Tbsp
- Water 2 Tbsp
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the chicken meat for the skewers. Instead of the large skewers often sold on the street, we’ll cut the chicken into smaller pieces to fit a regular-sized skewer, making it perfect for enjoying at home. This amount should yield about 7 skewers.
Step 2
Let’s season the chicken. Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper, then gently massage it into the chicken. Let it marinate for 5 minutes. Since we’ll be brushing the skewers with sauce later, be careful not to add too much salt at this stage to avoid making them too salty.
Step 3
Now, let’s make the delicious sauce that will make your chicken skewers so flavorful. Combine 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp oyster sauce, 2 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, and 2 Tbsp water in a bowl. Mix well.
Step 4
We’ll start threading the marinated chicken and the prepared green onion onto the skewers. Begin by placing a piece of the white part of the green onion onto the skewer, then thread a piece of chicken next to it.
Step 5
Alternate threading pieces of chicken and green onion onto the skewers until they are nicely arranged. Once the skewers are assembled, brush them generously on all sides with the prepared sauce. Let them marinate for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Step 6
Now it’s time to cook the skewers that have been marinating for 10 minutes. Lightly grease a pan with oil and cook over low heat. Since the sauce isn’t too salty, you can brush more sauce onto the skewers each time you flip them for an even tastier result.
Step 7
For an even richer flavor, after partially cooking the chicken on the pan, you can transfer them to a grill rack to get a smoky flavor. Be mindful that the sugar in the sauce can cause them to burn quickly, so continue to cook over low heat, brushing with sauce as needed. If you don’t have a grill rack, you can achieve a similar delicious result by continuing to brush with sauce and cook in the pan. Cook each of the 7 skewers individually with care, and you’ll have delicious homemade chicken skewers that are perfectly cooked and coated in flavorful sauce!
