Crispy & Chewy Cheese Potato Pancakes: Perfect for Kids & a Great Beer Snack!
Your Kid’s New Favorite Snack! Gooey Cheese Potato Pancake Recipe
Introducing a recipe for crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside cheese potato pancakes, perfect for making as a snack for children. Surprisingly, they are also a perfect match for a cold beer, making them an excellent appetizer for adults! I need to use up these potatoes I bought in bulk before they sprout. Let’s transform these leftover potatoes into delicious potato pancakes.
Main Ingredients- 7 small potatoes
- 2 slices of cheese
- 1 pinch of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, peel the potatoes thoroughly. Then, using a peeler (or mandoline), slice them into very thin strips. Slicing them thinly will make them extra crispy.
Step 2
Heat a frying pan with a generous amount of cooking oil. Spread the thinly sliced potatoes in a circular pancake shape. Cover with a lid and cook on low heat until one side is golden brown and cooked through. Lightly season with a pinch of salt.
Step 3
Once one side is well-cooked, carefully flip the pancake. If the potato strips have scattered and the shape is messy, use chopsticks or a spatula to gently gather them and reshape. Cooking one side thoroughly before flipping will help maintain the shape and make it easier to flip.
Step 4
After flipping, cover with the lid again and let it cook for a little longer on low heat until the second side is cooked. This ensures the inside is cooked evenly and remains tender.
Step 5
Remove the lid and let any moisture evaporate from the pan. Allowing the moisture to escape will make the potato pancakes even crispier. Don’t worry if all the moisture doesn’t disappear.
Step 6
Place the slices of cheese on top of the potato pancake as desired. Wait until the cheese is fully melted, then turn off the heat. Your delicious cheese potato pancake is complete! Serve immediately while warm for the best gooey cheese experience.
