Main Ingredients- 2 Tbsp cooking oil
- 100g chicken (breast or thigh)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 bowls warm cooked rice
- 2 handfuls fresh bean sprouts
- 2 eggs
- Shrimp (optional, to taste) as needed
Sauce Ingredients (Perfect Sweet & Savory Balance!)- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp mirin (or cooking wine)
- 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp mirin (or cooking wine)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the Chicken: Boil water in a pot. Add the chicken and cook for at least 6 minutes until fully cooked. Remove the chicken from the water, let it cool slightly, then shred it into bite-sized pieces. This step ensures the chicken is tender and juicy.
Step 2
Start the Stir-fry: Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil. Add the shredded chicken and chopped onion to the pan. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and lightly golden brown. If you are using shrimp, add them at this stage and stir-fry together.
Step 3
Adding Flavor: Once the onions are nicely caramelized and fragrant, add the warm cooked rice to the pan. Use a spatula to break up any clumps of rice. Pour in the oyster sauce, soy sauce, and mirin. Stir-fry everything quickly to ensure the sauce evenly coats every grain of rice. It’s important to get a good coating on the rice for maximum flavor.
Step 4
Incorporate the Eggs: Push the rice mixture to one side of the pan. Crack the eggs into the empty space and scramble them until they are almost cooked. Then, mix the scrambled eggs with the rice and continue to stir-fry briefly. The soft eggs add a wonderful richness to the dish.
Step 5
The Final Touch: Finally, add the fresh bean sprouts to the pan. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry for just about 1 minute. Be careful not to overcook the bean sprouts; they should remain crisp for the best texture. Once everything is well combined, remove from heat and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious Nasi Goreng!
