- Pinch of Black Pepper
Sauce Ingredients- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Anchovy Sauce (or fish sauce)
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (or cooking wine)
- 0.5 Tbsp Sugar
- 90ml Water
- 0.5 Tbsp Soy Sauce (for marinade)
- Pinch of Black Pepper
Sauce Ingredients- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Anchovy Sauce (or fish sauce)
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (or cooking wine)
- 0.5 Tbsp Sugar
- 90ml Water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the egg mixture. Crack 1 egg into a bowl, add a pinch of salt and 0.5 Tbsp of mirin. Whisk gently until well combined. This will be added later when stir-frying with the beef.
Step 2
Now, it’s time to cook the beef. Heat a pan over medium heat and add a small amount of cooking oil. Add the 150g of beef for bulgogi. Season with 0.5 Tbsp of marinade soy sauce and a pinch of black pepper to remove any gamey odor while stir-frying.
Step 3
Once the beef is cooked through and no longer pink, remove it from the pan and set it aside in a separate bowl. We’ll add it back later to simmer with the sauce.
Step 4
Prepare half an onion by slicing it thinly into strips. Wipe the pan used for the beef with a paper towel and add a little more cooking oil. Add the sliced onions and sauté over medium-low heat until they become translucent and softened.
Step 5
Once the onions are nicely sautéed, pour in 90ml of water and add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce.
Step 6
Next, add 1 Tbsp of anchovy sauce, 1 Tbsp of mirin, and 0.5 Tbsp of sugar to create the rice bowl sauce. Bring this mixture to a simmer over medium heat. Once the sauce and onions are well combined, add the cooked bulgogi back into the pan and let it simmer together.
Step 7
Simmer the beef and sauce mixture for about 1 minute over medium heat to allow the flavors to meld. Then, gently pour the prepared egg mixture in a circle around the edges of the pan, allowing it to cook like a steamed egg.
Step 8
Using a spatula, gently stir the egg mixture as it cooks, creating a soft scrambled effect. To ensure the egg remains tender and not rubbery, turn off the heat while it’s still slightly undercooked. Finally, place 200g of warm cooked rice into a serving bowl. Spoon the flavorful bulgogi and sauce mixture generously over the rice. Garnish with finely chopped scallion (about 1 stalk) sprinkled on top. Your delicious Bulgogi Rice Bowl is ready to enjoy!
