Bread and Vegetables

  • 4 Butter rolls
  • 1/4 head Cabbage
  • 1/4 Carrot
  • 1/2 Cucumber
  • 1/4 Apple
  • 2-3 Imitation crab sticks (Kamaboko)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the fresh vegetables and crab sticks for the filling. Wash the cabbage, cucumber, carrot, and apple thoroughly. Peel them and julienne them into very thin strips. If julienning is difficult, a mandoline slicer can make this process much easier. Gently shred the imitation crab sticks along their grain with your fingers. You can adjust the amount of vegetables and crab sticks to your preference – more filling makes it even more delicious! ^^

Step 1

Step 2

In a bowl, combine all the julienned vegetables and shredded crab sticks. Add the mayonnaise, ketchup for a sweet and tangy flavor, and sugar for a touch of sweetness to create the salad dressing. Gently mix everything together until the vegetables and crab sticks are well coated with the dressing. It’s important not to overmix, as this can bruise the vegetables and make them soggy. Keep the ingredients fresh and crisp!

Step 2

Step 3

Next, let’s make the special sauce for the bread. Mix mayonnaise and mustard sauce in a 1:1 ratio. You can adjust the amount of mustard sauce according to your taste. Add a pinch of coarse black pepper for a bit of spice and a little more sugar for a smooth sweetness. Stir until all the ingredients are well combined to create a flavorful sauce.

Step 3

Step 4

Now, it’s time to assemble the delicious Sarada Bread! Carefully slice the butter rolls in half lengthwise using a knife. The key is to slice them gently so they don’t break apart. Once halved, generously spread the prepared mayonnaise-mustard sauce on the inside of both halves of the bread. This sauce not only adds flavor but also acts as a protective coating, preventing the filling from making the bread too soggy. It will enhance the overall taste.

Step 4

Step 5

After spreading the sauce inside the bread, generously stuff it with the prepared vegetable salad. The more filling you add, the more diverse textures and flavors you’ll enjoy with every bite! Once filled, place the top half of the bread back on. Ta-da! Your visually appealing Sarada Bread, Vegetable Bread, or Salad Bread is complete! It’s the perfect snack to satisfy your hunger. I made three and ate them all myself! I highly recommend you try making it too!
