Key Ingredients- 200g Smoked Duck Breast
- 9 leaves Fresh Napa Cabbage
- 3 Mini Bell Peppers (e.g., red, yellow, orange)
- 1 bunch Fresh Scallions (about 10-15 stalks)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the napa cabbage leaves thoroughly. Remove any yellow outer leaves. Blanch the cabbage leaves in boiling water for about 1-2 minutes, just until the stems become slightly tender. Immediately transfer the blanched leaves to cold water to stop the cooking process. Drain them well and pat dry. If the leaves are very large, you can cut them into 2-3 pieces for easier handling. Next, wash the scallions, trim the roots, and blanch them in boiling water for about 30 seconds. Rinse with cold water, squeeze out any excess moisture, and set aside.
Step 2
Gently warm the smoked duck breast by microwaving it for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. This helps to render some of the fat and makes the duck more tender. Prepare the mini bell peppers by removing the stems and seeds. Slice them thinly into julienne strips. Using a variety of colors will make your rolls visually appealing.
Step 3
Now, it’s time to assemble the rolls. Lay a napa cabbage leaf flat. Place 2-3 blanched scallion stalks horizontally near the stem end. Arrange a generous portion of the julienned mini bell peppers over the scallions. Finally, add a piece of the warmed smoked duck breast. Fold the sides of the cabbage leaf inwards, then tightly roll it up from the stem end towards the tip. Ensure the roll is firm to prevent it from unraveling.
Step 4
Once all the rolls are assembled, slice them into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm thick. For cleaner cuts, you can chill the rolls in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes before slicing. The colorful cross-section of the filling will look beautiful when served.
Step 5
Arrange the sliced rolls on a serving plate. Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the top for added flavor and visual appeal. Serve with mustard sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy this delightful combination of fresh vegetables and savory smoked duck!
