Main Ingredients

  • 3 sheets of fish cake (use your favorite kind)
  • 1 stalk of green onion (both white and green parts can be used)
  • 400g cooked rice (warm rice is recommended)
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, finely chop the fish cakes and green onions for the fried rice. For a pleasant chewiness, chop the fish cakes into pieces about 0.5 cm in size, rather than mincing them too finely. Similarly, finely chop the green onions to help release their aroma. Prepare them well.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil. Add both the chopped fish cakes and green onions. Stir-fry over medium-high heat for about 2-3 minutes until the ingredients soften and the aroma of the green onions begins to release. Slightly browning the fish cakes will add an even richer flavor.

Step 2

Step 3

Once the green onion aroma is noticeable, add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce. Pouring the soy sauce along the side of the pan and letting it sizzle slightly can enhance its savory depth. Be careful not to burn the soy sauce, and stir well to combine with the other ingredients.

Step 3

Step 4

Next, add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce and stir-fry together. Oyster sauce will add a wonderful depth of flavor and balance the overall seasoning, significantly elevating your fish cake fried rice. Continue to stir-fry for about 1 more minute until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, add 400g of warm cooked rice and a pinch of black pepper. Gently break up any clumps of rice with your spatula, ensuring the rice is evenly mixed with all the other ingredients. Stir-frying thoroughly for 2-3 minutes so that each grain of rice is coated with the sauce is key to achieving the best texture and flavor.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the rice and all ingredients are well stir-fried, turn off the heat. Drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Sesame oil adds a nutty aroma and helps prevent the fried rice from clumping. Adding it after turning off the heat preserves its fragrant essence.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds over the top for a delicious fish cake fried rice! The nutty flavor and texture of the sesame seeds will make it even more appealing. Enjoy this delightful dish while it’s hot!
