  • Cooking : Mixed (Bibim-style)
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bowl of cooked rice (warm)
  • 1 handful of fresh chives (approx. 50g)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thoroughly wash the fresh chives under running water. Ensure all dirt and debris are removed. After washing, place them in a colander to drain completely. About one handful of chives is sufficient for a single serving of bibimbap.

Step 1

Step 2

Prepare a fried egg to enhance the flavor of your bibimbap. You can cook it sunny-side up and break the yolk to mix in, or cook it fully done according to your preference. It adds a rich, savory taste and a tender texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Cut the drained chives into bite-sized pieces. Slicing them into approximately 2cm lengths offers a pleasant texture. (Tip: Chives can become soggy quickly if they come into contact with moisture, so it’s best to wash and cut them right before use. For longer storage, keeping them with a bit of soil attached can help maintain freshness.)

Step 3

Step 4

Place the warm bowl of cooked rice (1 serving) into a serving bowl. Use the back of a spoon to spread the rice evenly. Then, artfully arrange the chopped chives in a circular pattern on top of the rice. Arranging it like a flower makes it even more appealing.

Step 4

Step 5

Now it’s time to add the seasoning that defines the bibimbap’s taste. Place 1 tablespoon of gochujang on top of the chives. The amount of gochujang can be adjusted based on your personal preference and the quantity of chives used.

Step 5

Step 6

Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds over the top for added nutty flavor. (Tip: For an even richer nutty taste, you can mix toasted sesame seeds and ground sesame seeds. This will further enhance the aroma.)

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, the crowning touch for your bibimbap! Drizzle 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. While perilla oil is also good, the distinct nutty aroma of sesame oil pairs exceptionally well with chives bibimbap, doubling the deliciousness. Mix all the ingredients together and enjoy your meal!
