Main Ingredients

  • 1 pack Tteokbokki rice cakes (about 300g)
  • 2 sheets of fish cakes

Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • Scallions, appropriate amount

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Rinse the tteokbokki rice cakes lightly under water. Add enough water to the pot to cover the rice cakes and bring to a boil over high heat. Once the water boils, add 1 tablespoon of gochujang, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 2 tablespoons of gochugaru. Stir well to combine the sauce ingredients.

Step 1

Step 2

When the sauce starts to boil and the rice cakes float up and then slightly deflate, add the fish cakes, cut into bite-sized pieces (like triangles), and the chopped scallions. Adding fish cakes and scallions will enhance the flavor of the tteokbokki.

Step 2

Step 3

Continue to simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the rice cakes and fish cakes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Once the sauce is reduced and the rice cakes are chewy, your delicious tteokbokki is ready!
