Ingredients

  • 1 packet Ramen noodles (spicy flavor recommended)
  • 500ml Water (approx. 2.5 cups)
  • 200g Cooked Rice (about 1 bowl)
  • 1 stalk Green Onion
  • 1.5 Tbsp Perilla Seed Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 Egg

First, gather and prepare all your ingredients. For easier cooking, crush the ramen noodles into smaller pieces inside their packaging. Finely chop the green onion.

Pour 500ml of water into a pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. Starting with boiling water helps develop the flavors more quickly.

Once the water is boiling vigorously, add the crushed ramen noodles, the ramen seasoning packet, and the chopped green onion to the pot.

After the ramen has been cooking for about 1 minute, stir in 1.5 tablespoons of perilla seed powder. This is the key ingredient for that wonderful nutty flavor!

Crack the egg directly into the simmering porridge. This will add a lovely creaminess and richness as it cooks.

Gently stir the porridge with a spoon or ladle to combine the perilla powder and the egg. This helps distribute the flavors evenly and creates a smooth texture.

Approximately 2.5 to 3 minutes after adding the ramen, stir in the 200g of cooked rice. Break up any clumps of rice so it integrates smoothly into the porridge.

Cook for another minute or so, adjusting the heat as needed, until the ramen reaches your desired tenderness and the porridge has thickened to your liking. Just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for an extra boost of aroma and flavor.
