Super Easy Microwave Steamed Egg Custard with Milk for 8-Month-Old Baby

Soft Steamed Egg Custard with Milk

Time flies so fast; our baby is already 8 months old! With two teeth on the top and two on the bottom, they can now enjoy a variety of snacks. Today, I’m making a super simple and soft steamed egg custard with milk using the microwave, perfect for our little one!

Recipe Info

  • Category : Dessert
  • Ingredient Category : Eggs / Dairy
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Steamed
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 5 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • Milk, as needed (1:1 ratio with egg)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare 1 egg, some milk, and a microwave-safe mug. Ensure the mug is thoroughly cleaned as it’s for your baby.

Step 1

Step 2

Carefully crack 1 egg into the mug.

Step 2

Step 3

Whisk the egg thoroughly with chopsticks or a fork until well combined. This step is crucial to prevent the egg yolk from expanding and bursting suddenly in the microwave.

Step 3

Step 4

Pour in milk, matching the volume of the whisked egg. A 1:1 ratio of egg to milk generally yields a wonderfully soft texture. Stir again to ensure the milk and egg are completely blended.

Step 4

Step 5

The preparation is complete! Cover the mug opening with food-grade plastic wrap. To allow steam to escape and ensure even cooking, poke two small holes in the center of the plastic wrap with a fork. This helps create a softer custard.

Step 5

Step 6

Microwave for approximately 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Always check the temperature before serving to ensure it’s not too hot for your baby.

Step 6

Step 7

Once cooked, carefully remove the mug from the microwave. Gently stir with a spoon to check if the inside is cooked through. It should have a soft, pudding-like consistency.

Step 7

Step 8

Voila! Your soft, microwave-made steamed egg custard is ready. It’s so rewarding to think of your baby enjoying this healthy, homemade treat. This is a great option for a baby snack or when your little one needs a gentle meal!
