Main Ingredients- 340g Warm Cooked Rice
- 100g Canned Tuna, drained
- 5 sheets of Roasted Seaweed Flakes or Seasoned Seaweed (approx. 2.5g)
- 15g Cheongyang Chili Pepper (approx. 1 pepper)
- 15g Pickled Radish for Gimbap (approx. 1 strip)
- 100g Spam
- 1 slice of Processed Cheese (optional)
- A pinch of Furikake (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, cook and prepare warm rice. Fluffy, separate grains of rice are ideal for making rice burgers.
Step 2
Drain the oil completely from the canned tuna using a sieve. Excess oil can make the tuna mayo filling too greasy.
Step 3
Remove the seeds from the Cheongyang chili pepper and mince it very finely. You can increase the amount if you like it spicier.
Step 4
Finely chop the pickled radish strip for gimbap as well. The sweet and sour taste of the pickled radish will enrich the flavor of the tuna mayo.
Step 5
In a bowl, combine the drained tuna with 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise, a pinch of sugar, and a dash of black pepper. Mix well to create the tuna mayo filling.
Step 6
Add the minced Cheongyang chili pepper and chopped pickled radish to the tuna mayo and mix thoroughly. This creates a tuna mayo filling with a crisp texture and clean flavor.
Step 7
Slice the Spam thinly, about 0.5cm thick. These will serve as the ham patties for the rice burger.
Step 8
Heat a little cooking oil in a pan and add 4 tablespoons of finely chopped kimchi. Stir-fry until the kimchi is moderately cooked.
Step 9
While stir-frying the kimchi, add a pinch of beef broth powder for enhanced umami. (Optional)
Step 10
Now, place the sliced Spam in the pan and cook it until golden brown along with the kimchi. The saltiness of the Spam and the spiciness of the kimchi create a fantastic flavor combination.
Step 11
In a large bowl, place the warm rice. Add 5 sheets of seasoned seaweed, crumbled by hand. Season the rice with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, a pinch of salted seasoning, and 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds.
Step 12
Using a spatula, gently mix the seasoned rice from bottom to top, ensuring the rice grains remain separate. Avoid mashing the rice.
Step 13
Line a round bowl or container, which will serve as the mold for the rice burger, generously with plastic wrap. This prevents the rice from sticking and makes shaping easier.
Step 14
Place a portion of the seasoned rice into the wrapped mold to form the base of the rice burger. Press the rice firmly to shape it.
Step 15
Place a slice of processed cheese on top of the rice base. (Optional, but the cheese adds a wonderful flavor to the rice burger.)
Step 16
Add the golden-brown Spam patty you cooked earlier on top of the cheese.
Step 17
Next, generously spoon the prepared Cheongyang chili tuna mayo filling over the Spam.
Step 18
Arrange the stir-fried kimchi appetizingly over the tuna mayo.
Step 19
Finally, cover everything with the remaining seasoned rice to form the top layer of the rice burger. Press the rice firmly to shape it.
Step 20
Wrap the entire rice burger tightly with the plastic wrap to mold its shape. Use the wrap to press firmly and create a compact rice burger.
Step 21
Transfer the finished rice burger to a plate. If desired, you can add a little extra tuna mayo or sprinkle some furikake for garnish to make your Ham Cheese Rice Burger even more appealing. Enjoy your delicious meal!
