Magical Transformation of Canned Tuna! Super Easy Tuna Steak Recipe

Elegant Tuna Steak

Did you know you can create elegant dishes using just a can of tuna? Today, I’m sharing a super simple tuna steak recipe that even uses up leftover vegetables from your fridge. It’s not only delicious but also incredibly easy to make, so anyone can try it! Let’s get started right away! ^^

Recipe Info

  • Category : Main dish
  • Ingredient Category : Processed foods
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Grilled / Roasted
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : Within 15 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 1 can of tuna (approx. 150g), drained
  • 1 egg
  • A small amount of finely chopped vegetables (use up what’s in your fridge)
  • A small amount of breadcrumbs or Korean pancake mix (approx. 2-3 Tbsp)
  • Tonkatsu sauce (or your favorite sauce)
  • A pinch of pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the vegetables that will add flavor to your tuna steak. Finely mince any leftover vegetables you have, such as bell peppers, perilla leaves, or onions. Adding onion will give it a sweeter, more delicious flavor.

Step 1

Step 2

Drain the canned tuna thoroughly using a sieve. If you don’t drain the oil well, the mixture can become mushy and greasy.

Step 2

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, finely chopped vegetables, 1 egg, a pinch of pepper, and breadcrumbs or Korean pancake mix. The breadcrumbs or pancake mix act as a binder, helping the ingredients stick together. Don’t add too much, or it can become dry; just enough so that the mixture holds its shape when you form it. (You can substitute with pancake mix if you don’t have breadcrumbs).

Step 3

Step 4

Mix all the ingredients thoroughly with your hands, kneading them well until they become slightly sticky and cohesive. Kneading the mixture like you would for rice cakes will ensure the steaks hold their shape beautifully after cooking.

Step 4

Step 5

Put on a pair of disposable gloves and shape the mixture into round, flat patties. Making them round and somewhat thick, like burger patties, is ideal. Shaping them firmly by hand is crucial so they don’t fall apart when cooked.

Step 5

Step 6

Heat some oil in a pan over medium heat. Place the shaped tuna steaks in the pan and cook them gently over low heat until golden brown on one side. Once golden, flip them over and cook the other side until equally golden brown. Cooking over low heat ensures they cook through evenly without burning.

Step 6

Step 7

And there you have it! The amazing transformation of canned tuna into an elegant tuna steak! Doesn’t it look like a restaurant dish when drizzled with tonkatsu sauce? ^^

Step 7

Step 8

The thick, golden-brown tuna steaks look incredibly appetizing.

Step 8

Step 9

Cut into the steak like you would a traditional steak and take a bite. The combination of the tender tuna and the crisp vegetables is simply delightful! Using tuna instead of meat creates a wonderful meal. If you have young children, they will absolutely love this fun and delicious tuna steak!
