Essential Ingredients- 20 dumpling wrappers
- Mandu filling (store-bought or homemade)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
[Folding Round Mandu] First, place one dumpling wrapper gently on your palm. Be mindful to keep the wrappers from drying out as you work.
Step 2
Place a suitable amount of prepared mandu filling in the center of the wrapper. To make folding easier, avoid overfilling; filling about 2/3 of the wrapper is recommended. Carefully pinch the top and bottom edges of the wrapper together, letting them overlap slightly.
Step 3
Now, using your thumb and index finger, bring the two end edges of the wrapper together towards the center and press firmly to seal. Just like a clam closing its shell, sealing them thoroughly prevents air from escaping, ensuring your dumplings don’t burst. A round, beautiful shape is complete!
Step 4
[Folding Pleated Mandu] Similar to the round mandu, place one dumpling wrapper on your palm. Add the mandu filling to the center, and lightly press the top and bottom edges together to form a half-moon shape.
Step 5
Now, using your thumb and index finger, pinch the edge of the wrapper at approximately 1 cm intervals, creating pleats as you move towards the end and seal it shut. Fold with care to create delicate pleats, much like beautiful flower petals. Your pleated mandu is now complete! You can use this method to create various shapes of dumplings.
